Ariocarpus genus (Living rock). This genus is extremely slow-growing. These perennial cacti have large, swollen roots. Some of the species have tufts of downy hairs on the top of the plant or at the ends of the tubercles. The showy flowers will vary from cream to yellow, pink or purplish. They are frost tender, with min of 5C. They will prefer full sun and extremely well drained, lime-rich soil. It is very prone to rotting so, propagation is by seeds in the spring or summer.
