Description

Acer cappadocicum ‘Aureum’ (Caucasian maple). This cultivar of the Caucasian Maple has bright yellow spring foliage with red or orange margins, turning to pale green in summer. In autumn, the leaves turn bright yellow, retaining their green margins at first, which gives a glowing effect. Small yellow flowers are produced in spring.

China, N. Turkey, Iran, Himalayas. Introduced to the UK in 1839.

Interest and use

Grown for Spring and autumn interest. For maximum impact, plant in front of an evergreen tree.

Cultivation
