Description

Pulicaria dysenterica (Common fleabane). The leaves from this species were formerly used for their insecticidal properties. This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe. STEM: Upright, branched above. ROOT: Fibrous; stems rooting. HAIRS: Sparse on stem, dense under leaves. STIPULES: Absent LEAF-STALK: Short below, absent above. BRACTS: Many around heads, thin, hairy; none between florets. FLOWER STALK: Absent; to 2.5cm under heads. SEPALS: A ring of hairs. PETALS: 5, joined, tubular, lobes equal or very unequal. STAMENS: 5, joined into tube. STIGMA: 1, 2-lobed; style long. OVARY: 1, below petals, 1-celled. SEEDS: 1, not released.
