Description

Rhapis genus (Lady palm). This is a small genus of about 12 species of low-growing palms. They will form clumps of slender, bamboo-like stems which are deeply divided with fan-shaped leaves. The yellow male and female flowers will occur on separate plants. The fruits are small berries which contain a single seed. They are frost tender with a min of 15C. Give them partial shade and humus-rich well drained soil.

Grown for their foliage and overall appearance.

Cultivation

They are frost-tender palms which are often grown in tubs, as ornamental clumps. They will need some shade and rich, moist soil. Can be grown under glass.

Is susceptible to red spider mite.
