Cultivation

They will prefer moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil in a sunny position. You can propagate by root division in winter, or from seeds, cuttings or suckers.

Propagation

Propagate by seed or cuttings (semi-ripe for evergreens, softwood or hardwood for deciduous species) in summer or winter. Alternatively, R.odoratus may be increased by division and R.'Benenden' and R.ulmifolius 'Bellidiflorus' by layering in spring. You can also propagate by root division in winter.
