Ruscus genus (Broom). This genus consists of about 6 species of evergreen, clump-forming spring flowering subshrubs. The leaves are flattened shoots the flowers and fruits are borne on them. The flowers are small greenish white and star-shaped. The fruits will require male and female plants to multiply, and are red and showy.

Grown for their foliage and fruits. It is particularly useful for dry, shady sites.
They are fully to frost hardy and will tolerate sun or shade and any other than waterlogged soil. Cut dead shoots to base in spring.
