Ruta genus (Rue). This genus consists of about 8 species of subshrubs, shrubs and woody evergreen perennials. They are grown for their foliage and summer flowers which are small, yellow and are produced in terminal cymes. The foliage is aromatic, decorative with blue-grey leaves which are ovate to rounded and deeply divided.

Grown for their foliage and flowers and sometimes used as a medicinal herb. Suitable for coastal conditions.
They will prefer slightly alkaline well-drained soil in full sun. They are marginally to fully frost hardy. Protect them from severe frosts in cold climates an strong winds. Trim after flowering back to old wood to encourage compact growth. The foliage can cause rashes in hot weather.
You can propagate by division in the spring or from semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.
