Description

Sanicula europaea (Sanicle). This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe. STEM: Upright. ROOT: Stout stock. HAIRS: Absent. STIPULES: Absent. LEAF-STALK: Base broad, clasping stem; upper short. BRACTS: Lower often lobed, toothed; upper narrow, edge unbroken. FLOWER STALK: Shorter than flower. SEPALS: 5, pointed, bases joined. PETALS: 5, notched, curved inwards. STAMENS: 5 STIGMA: 2, slender. OVARY: 1, below sepals, 2-celled. SEEDS: 1 per half, not released.
