Description

Saponaria genus (Soapwort). There are about 20 species of annuals and perennials. They contain a glucoside called saponin, which is good as a detergent for dissolving grease and dirt. It is also edible and has been used as an additive to beer to ensure that it develops a good head when poured. It is fully hardy and will need sun and well drained soil.
