Serapias genus (Tongue orchid). This is a deciduous terrestrial orchid which grows in soil or a leaf mould. The perennial consists of 3 outer sepals and 3 inner petals, and the lowest of which is usually enlarged. The flowers can be colourful and are very attractive.
Grown for their beautiful and unusual flowers.
Except in mild areas, orchids are best grown in pots and kept in greenhouses during cold weather and winter.
Division of tubers where possible, or orchids with pseudobulbs may have older leafless ones removed and repotted.
