Description

Solanum laxum (Hairy nightshade). There are over 1,400 species in this large genus, which includes trees, shrubs, annuals, biennials, perennials and climbers. Some are evergreen while others are semi-evergreen or deciduous. The leaves are arranged alternately. The showy flowers are solitary or in clusters of star to bell-shaped blooms, which range in colour from white and yellow to blue and purple. The fruits are berries that contain many seeds. This genus includes the potato with edible tubers.

Cultivation
