Description

Sphagnum cuspidatum (Moss). This moss has an aquatic habit. The stems are long and the leaves are from 12-40cm and have wavy margins when dry. The leafy shoots are beautifully feathery, and the stems are green or brown. The stem leaves are triangular in shape, and resemble an algae. In the cell structure of the branch leaves, green cells are exposed on both surfaces of the leaf, and the colourless cells are long and narrow with few pores. It tolerates a wide range of acidity and requires few minerals.
