Description

Spirodela polyrhiza (Greater duckweed). This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe. STEM: Solitary or 2-5 connected, flattened, oval. ROOT: 5-15 per plant, up to 3cm, straight. HAIRS: Absent STIPULES: Absent BRACTS: Tiny, cup-like, papery. FLOWER STALK: Absent SEPALS: Absent PETALS: Absent STAMENS: 1 per flower. STIGMA: 1; style short. OVARY: 1, 1-celled. SEEDS: 1-4, ridged, smooth.
