Sprekelia genus (Jacobean lily). There is one species of bulbous perennial which is clump-forming with strap-shaped leaves. The flowering stem can carry one red flower which is occasionally white with 6 segments this gives it the appearance of an orchid. They are half hardy and will need an open, sunny site with well drained soil.

You should plant the frost-tender bulb in full sun with moderately fertile, well-drained soil. You can propagate by separating offsets during their autumn dormancy.
