Description

Stenocarpus genus. This genus consists of 22 species of evergreen shrubs and trees. They produce umbels of tubular, cream to red flowers with knob-shaped stigmas protruding through splits in the tubes. The leaves are alternate and simple. They are frost tender, min 5-7C and will need full light and fertile, well drained soil.

Grown for their flowers and foliage.

Cultivation

They will grow in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. You should water generously in the summer and less in the winter. Propagation is from seeds in the spring or from cuttings in the summer. Pruning is rarely necessary.
