Strongylodon genus. This genus consists of about 20 species of vigorous evergreen shrubs or woody-stemmed vines, which bears long racemes of pea-shaped flowers, which are either blue, blue-green, red or orange. They have tripalmate leaves with lance-shaped or rounded leaflets. They are frost tender, min 18C and will need humus-rich, moist but well drained soil with partial shade in the summer.
Grown for their large, claw-like flowers.
These are frost-tender plants they prefer full sun or partial-shade with fertile, humus-rich soil. You can propagate from seeds, or by rooting stem sections or by air layering. Provide support. If necessary thin crowded stems in spring.
