Description

Acer oblongum (Evergreen maple). This maple is distinctive from other maples as it retains its leaves in milder climates. It will lose its leaves in a cooler climate. It belongs in the sandalwood family and has buttressed trunks and the bark can be smooth or wrinkled. The leaves emerge with a reddish tint and are shiny and deep green in colour, and the tree has a bushy compact crown. Greenish white, hairy, hermaphrodite flowers are produced in the spring.
