Description

Tecoma stans (Yellow trumpet tree). This evergreen shrub or small tree reaches a height of 4.5-6m and can be pruned heavily after flowering to keep compact. Leaves are composed of 5 or 7 leaflets, each 6-8cm long with deeply serrated edges. Bears bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers to 5cm long arranged in sprays at the branch tips. Flowers from early summer to late autumn. The fruit is a capsule about 20cm long, ripening to chocolate brown.
