Abelia ‘Edward Goucher’ (Abelia). This variety is a semi-evergreen arching bush with ovate dark green, bronze leaves. The flowers are trumpet-shaped pink-purple small blooms with reddish sepals in the mid summer.

The Abelia genus is named after Dr Abel, physician to the British ambassador Lord Amherst, despatched to China in 1816 to build relations with the court of the Quing dynasty.
