Description

Trochocarpa genus. There are about 12 species of evergreen shrub or small tree. The leaves are simple long-stemmed and lance-shaped, and are produced in whorled clusters at the branch tips. The bright green flowers are borne in raceme clusters. They are frost hardy to frost tender, and will need a sunny position with moist but well drained, soil.

Grown for their nodding flower spikes.

Cultivation

It is moderately frost hardy, min 7C, and will grow easily in any well-drained, peaty, sandy soil. It will prefer a little shade and shelter when young.

Propagation

You can propagate from seeds, or by semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
