Description

Acer palmatum ‘Ariadne’ (Japanese maple). This is a small, upright shrub with mid green, leaves flushed with pink in the summer, which turn shades of red, pink, orange and yellow in the autumn. New leaves emerge copper-orange. In spring, clusters of red-purple flowers are produced.

Cultivation

Leaf eating caterpillars or aphids sometimes infest plants. Also prone to scale insects, tar spot, Verticillium wilt, leaf scorch and honey fungus.
