Description

Ulex genus (Gorse). This genus consists of about 20 species. The young plants produce small shoots with 3 leaflets. The flowers are profuse, are golden yellow and fragrant and borne singly or in small clusters.

Interest and use

Is grown for its flowers in spring. Suitable for coastal conditions.

Cultivation

They are fully to frost hardy. They will tolerate very poor sandy soils and coastal conditions. Trim each year after flowering to maintain compact habit. Straggly, old plants may be cut back hard in spring.

Propagation

You can propagate from seeds in the autumn or spring, or from cuttings in summer.
