Description

Viola cornuta (Horned pansy). The flowers are pale blue to deep violet and are borne in mid spring and mid summer. The flowering stems are about 15cm long.

Cultivation

They are fully to half hardy and should be grown in the sun or shade in well drained but moisture retentive soil; a few species prefer acid soil. They will appreciate shelter from the drying winds.

Propagation

Popagate by seed; the annuals sown according to flowering season. Usually the perennials and sub-shrubs are propagated by softwood cuttings in spring or they can be propagated by root division. Species may also be propagated by seed in spring or autumn.
