Welwitschia genus. These are evergreen, desert-growing perennials with a deep tap root, which has 2 strap-like leaves which are opposite. They are frost tender, min 10C, and will need sun and sharply drained soil. It is difficult to grow as it needs desert conditions, which may succeed in a mixture of stone chippings and leaf mould. You can propagate by seeds when ripe.
