Xeranthemum genus (Immortelle). There are about 5 or 6 annual herbs with flowerheads retaining their colour and form for many years. They will produce upright, branching stems with narrow leaves. The flowerheads are single on long stems and are white, purple or pink. They are half hardy and will grow in the sun, in fertile very well drained soil. You can propagate by seed sown outdoors in the spring.
