Description

Yucca genus. In this genus there are about 40 species of unusual, evergreen shrubs and trees, producing rosettes of sword-like leaves. They produce tall, showy panicles of drooping, white, bell to cup-shaped flowers.

Interest and use

Makes excellent container plants. Grown for the architectural value of their bold leaves. Suitable for coastal conditions.

Cultivation

They are fully hardy to frost tender, min 7C. They grow well with low humidity; they prefer full sun and sandy soil with good drainage.

Propagation

Propagate frost tender species by seed, offsets or suckers, and hardier species by root cuttings or division. Propagate in spring if they are frost tender species.
