Description

Echium ‘Pink Fountain’ (Tree Echium). A simply stunning cross between the 1.2m tall red-flowered Echium wildpretii and the 4.2m tall blue-flowered Echium pininana.

Echium ‘Pink Fountain’ produces a large rosette of coarse strap-like leaves on a thick ‘trunk’, eventually reaching up to 4.5m after 2-3 years when the plant is covered in an avalanche of dark pink flowers in late spring/early summer.

Origin

Echium pinanini is native to the Canary Islands where it self seeds on rocky, shale slopes. Echium wildpretii is native to Tenerife.
