Amorpha fruticosa (Bastard Indigo). Amorpha fruticosa has feathery, compound leaves and spires of purple, fragrant flowers with golden stamens, which are attractive to butterflies. As a member of the Papilionaceae family, this plant can improve poor soils by fixing nitrogen.
