Kalimeris genus (Kalimeris Asters). A small genus of some 14 species in the sunflower (Asteraceae) family, first described by the French botanist Alexandre Cassini in 1825. Native to eastern Asia, but also quite widely grown in other parts of Asia and Europe, and naturalised in Hawaii.
These plants have bluish-green lobed, herbaceous foliage and flowers that may be white, purple, or pink, depending on the cultivar. They grow to a height of 1-1.5m.
Attract bees and butterflies
Easy to grow. Like more sun in cooler zones and a reasonably fertile soil. Tolerate clay. Cope well with dry conditions. Dead head occasionally.
