Description

Bergenia cordifolia ‘Lunar Glow’ (Elephant's Ears). This new cultivar emerged from a tissue culture mutation of B. cordifolia 'Solar Flare' and has pale yellow-green young leaves with darker green veins, turning mid and dark green and then shades of red and burgundy as they age. The flowers are mid pink on orange-red stems.

Cultivation

They are fully to frost hardy and will tolerate sun or shade in any well drained soil, but the leaf colour is best on poor soil and in full sun.

Propagation is by division in the spring after flowering.

Dry brown rot, slugs, snails and caterpillars. Vine weevil and leaf spot may be a problem.
