Description

Acer palmatum ‘Corallinum’ (Coral Bark Maple). This is a very slow growing small deciduous tree or bushy shrub. The foliage is palmate and lobed and emerges red-pink or coral, turning mid green and then exploding into a firecracker range of reds, oranges and yellows in the autumn. In spring, red-purple flowers are produced and small branches remain coral pink through the winter.

Cultivation

Not so good for containers as can become straggly. Avoid feeding but keep moist if weather is very dry.

Leaf eating caterpillars or aphids sometimes infest plants. Also prone to scale insects, tar spot, Verticillium wilt, leaf scorch and honey fungus.
