Description

Hablitzia tamnoides (Caucasian spinach). A dense, fast growing climber in spring/early summer with edible leaves, ideal for a forest garden.

Has heart shaped lower leaves with long stalks and small, green, profuse but insignificant flowers a little like Lady's Mantle.

Became popular in Scandinavia in the 19th century first as an attractive climber, then for its good crop of mild edible leaves. Little known outside Scandinavia, but gaining recognition as an easy-to-grow perennial vegetable plant.

Propagation
