Eulychnia genus. Also known by the name Philippicereus, this is a genus of cacti with a tree-like or candalabra-like form of which there are between 6 and 9 species. These plants are adapted to exceedingly hot, dry terrain, i.e. the Atacama desert, which is the driest desert in the world.

The genus name 'Eulychnia' comes from the Greek words 'eu' meaning 'good' and 'lychnia' meaning candelabrum or lamp post.
These plants are often grown as specimen plants, for architectural value and under glass.
