Berberidopsis genus (Coral plant). This is an evergreen woody-stemmed, twining climber. It will produces sprays of deep scarlet flowers. The leaves are ovate and green. They are frost hardy and will dislike strong winds and direct sun. The soil should preferably be lime-free and well drained. You will need to cut out the dead growth in the spring. Propagation is by seed in the spring or by stem cuttings or layering in late summer or autumn.
