Description

Bergenia ‘Evening Glow’ (Elephant's ear). This may also be known as B. 'Abendglut'. An evergreen, clump-forming perennial which has rosettes of oval, crinkled, short-stemmed, green, purple-red leaves. Above the leaves grows racemes of open, cup-shaped, semi-double, deep pink-red flowers in springtime.

Cultivation

They are fully to frost hardy and will tolerate sun or shade in any well drained soil, but the leaf colour is best on poor soil and in full sun.

Dry brown rot, slugs, snails and caterpillars. Vine weevil and leaf spot may be a problem.
