Description

Acer palmatum ‘Kurabeyama’ (Japanese maple). This is a small tree with an upright habit, with deeply divided leaves which emerge brick red and turn mid green with burgundy tints over the summer and then to shades of orange, yellow and sometimes crimson in the autumn. Branches and veins are dark red. The shape of the lobes are said to resemble crab legs, which is reflected in the name 'Kurabu' which translates as 'crab' and 'yama' meaning 'mountain' in Japanese.
