Bolax genus. This genus consists of 3 species of dense, evergreen, hummock and cushion forming perennials. The leaves are tiny, growing in clumps until the summer; they are followed with umbels of small greenish-white flowers.
Grown for the foliage which has thick, tough leaves in symmetrical rosettes. Flowers only rarely in cultivation. Suitable for screens, containers, troughs and alpine houses.
They are fully hardy and will need sun with humus-rich, well drained soil.
Propagation is by rooting rosettes in the summer.
Red spider mites and aphids could be come a problem under glass.
