Description

Acer pycnanthum (Japenese Red Maple). This species resembles a smaller 'Acer rubrum' and is Synonymous with Acer rubrum var. pycnanthum. The twigs are tinged blue. The leaves grow up to 8cm, sub-orbicular to ovate, usually shallowly tri-lobed. Foliage turns shades of orange and red in the autumn.
