Description

Acer rufinerve (Snakebark maple). This is an upright tree and it can reach a height of 6-9m. The leaves are lobed and in the autumn the leaves are deep red-orange in colour. It has downy, bluish new growth and the bark of the young branches is attractively striped. The 3- lobed leaves are 8 to 15 cm long, with the central lobe being the largest.

Leaf eating caterpillars or aphids sometimes infest plants. Also prone to scale insects, tar spot, Verticillium wilt, leaf scorch and honey fungus.
