Description

Acer tetramerum (Spike Leaved Maple). Also known as Acer syachyophyllum. This is a multi-stemmed tree with an upright vase shape. The leaves are small, birch-like, papery and taper to a long point. Leaf stems and twigs are purple-red and the leaves turn from mid green to shades of purple, red and orange in the autumn. The mature bark is yellow-brown.
