Description

Calceolaria acutifolia (Slipperwort). This species is a mat-forming evergreen perennial. The leaves have an opposite arrangement with oblong-ovate shallowly toothed medium green leaves. In the summer cymes of red-spotted yellow flowers will bloom.

Cultivation

They are hardy to frost tender, with a min of 5-7C. Most will prefer a sunny position but some will prefer a shady cool site, with moist but well drained soil. Try to incorporate a sharp sandy compost. They will dislike wet conditions in the winter.

Propagation is by softwood cuttings in late spring or summer, or by seed in the autumn.
