Description

Achimenes longiflora ‘Ambroise Verschaffelt’ (Cupid's bower). Free-flowering perennial, trailing to 30cm. Has dark green leaves, usually 3 or 4 whorled, sometimes opposite, which are oval shaped to oblong, coarsely toothed, and sometimes red-tinted on the reverse. Numerous solitary white flowers with purple-red veins and dots in the yellow throats are borne in summer to autumn.

Cultivation

They are frost tender, min 10C, and will prefer bright light but not direct sun, and well drained soil. Allow to dry out after flowering and store rhizomes in a frost free place over winter.

You should divide the rhizomes or take stem cuttings in the spring.
