Cardiocrinum genus (Giant lily). This genus consists of summer-flowering, lily-like bulbs, which are grown for their spectacular flowers. They are frost hardy and will need partial shade in deep humus-rich, moist soil. You will need to plant the bulbs just below the soil surface in the autumn. Make sure you water well in the summer and mulch with humus. After flowering the main bulb will die, but will produce offsets. You can propagate by seeds in the autumn or winter and they will then flower in about 7 years.
