Description

Carya glabra (Pig nut hickory). A spreading, deciduous tree native to the east States of the USA. The bark is deeply fissured and scaly. The leaves are pinnate and pointed becoming yellow-orange in autumn. The tree nuts are enclosed in thin husks containing a small but sweet kernel.
