Description

Ceanothus ‘Italian Skies’ (Californian lilac). Bears small, glossy mid green leaves with dense, conical cymes of bright blue flowers in late spring to early summer.

Grown for their small but densely clustered, mainly blue flowers. Attractive to bees.

Cultivation

They are frost to half hardy; in cold areas you should plant against a south or west facing wall. They will need a sheltered site in full sun and light well drained soil. Remember to cut out the dead wood from the evergreens in the spring and trim their side shoots after flowering. Cut back shoots of deciduous species to basal framework in early spring.
