Description

Acorus calamus (Myrtle flag). This is an aquatic semi-evergreen plant with yellow-green, wavy edged leaves.

Europe, Asia and N. America. Naturalized in Britain

Interest and use

Grown as an aquatic, and or bog plant. The roots have been used for perfume, medicinally and as a food, as substitutes for cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.
