Description

Cedrus libani (Cedar of Lebanon). This is a stunningly beautiful conifer, which is often seen in large garden or landscapes. It is tall with outward spreading dark branches. The needles are dark green and about 3cms long, the brown cones are about 10cms long.

Cultivation

They are drought tolerant, but because of its slow growth it is hard to acquire commercially.

Propagation

Propagate by seed sown in autumn or spring (but forms selected for leaf colour do not come true). Take evergreen current-growth cuttings in autumn to spring. Deciduous softwood cuttings in summer.

Pests, diseases or disorders

Honey fungus may be a problem; young plants are more susceptible.
