Ceratostigma genus (Hairy plumbago). These are deciduous, semi-evergreen or evergreen shrubs and perennials. The genus has about 8 species. From spring to autumn it will produce loose heads of blue flowers. The leaves are small and deep green in colour; they will turn a bronze colour before falling in the autumn. They are fully hardy to frost tender, min 10C and will require a sunny position with well drained soil. You will need to cut out the dead wood from shrubs in the spring. You can propagate the shrubs by softwood cuttings in the summer; the perennials by division in the spring.
