Cercis genus (Judas tree). This genus consists of deciduous, evergreen shrubs and trees with sometimes shrubby growth. The leaves are small, the flowers are produced in clusters of pea-shaped flowers in the spring and summer.
Deciduous, Shrubs or Trees
Grown for their foliage and profuse, small, pea-like flowers.
Plant out as young specimens. Resents transplanting. They are fully hardy and will require full sun and deep, fertile well drained soil.
You can propagate the species by seeds in the autumn, the cultivars by budding in late summer.
Scale insects may become a problem.
