Description

Actaea spicata (Baneberry). This species is a clump-forming perennial with mid green, bipinnate compound leaves. The flowers are produced in racemes of white blooms in May to June and these are followed by shiny black berries which are about 1cm across. The berries are highly poisonous to humans and other mammals, although not to birds.
